A first draft is like ...

A first draft is like jigsaw puzzle pieces spilled onto the ground. There's a lot of material there, but it's hard to believe it will ever fit together, that it will ever make sense.

  1. Yes, as I work through a second draft, putting all the jigsaw pieces together, your post is exactly how I feel. The border is place, but I'm still working on the complex parts in the middle.

  2. This is exactly how I felt last night. It felt sort of daunting, but I felt good to actually be re-arranging the pieces.

  3. I think it's even a little harder than the puzzle--I at least have the complete, full, photo of the puzzle to help me believe!
